Hi Jen and everyone,
Here’s more info on the question on how to understand the Tropical system in the southern hemisphere.
Earth’s North Pole leans towards 00 Cancer on the Ecliptic. This means that, when the sun impresses cancer, it shines directly above earth, Tropic of Cancer, the northern bound of the zodiac. Like so many sacred systems of ancient wisdom, traditions, the tropical zodiac is directionally aligned. The cusp of the Cardinal signs are aligned to our planets. Cardinal directions, which are defined by her spine (our rotational axis). North is north everywhere on Earth. 00 Aries is due east of earth center, and therefore acts like a global ascendant. It is the cross where the ecliptic passes over the equator. I use those terms intentionally. I’m currently creating by definitive astronomy of the tropical zodiac material for NORWAC. Eventually, it will be the first of a three part series about the turning of the ages. So soon, I’ll have a better place to point people.
So to translate what he said – the basic astronomy is the same everywhere in the world. Consider that Aries point is where the ecliptic rises above the celestial equator. When the Sun is there, we call that the equinox (spring or fall depending on hemisphere). However, in all cases the Aries point is where the Ecliptic rises above the celestial equator. That is what makes it Aries, regardless of hemisphere.
Aries is like the Ascendant of the Earth, similar to how in a chart the AC corresponds to where the AC is rising above the horizon.
So regardless of the difference in seasons, there is a uniformity in the basic astronomy.
And he shared with me this video which he said address these ideas as well:
